Prefabricated Teak Deck Panels

Prefabricated teak deck panels are built as completed sections in our Fort Lauderdale workshop from templates taken on your vessel, then installed on board. The result: most of the carpentry happens under controlled conditions, and the time your vessel spends with work in progress shrinks.

How Prefabricated Teak Panels Are Made

The process starts on board: we template the deck area precisely — camber, curves, margins, hatches, and hardware locations. Those templates drive fabrication in our workshop, where planks are milled, laid out, and pre-assembled into panels with seams prepared.

Panels are numbered and mapped to the deck so installation on board is a planned sequence, not a live build.

Where Prefabricated Panels Work Best

Prefabrication suits deck areas with defined, repeatable geometry — main deck fields, cockpit soles, and sections between margins and hatches. Building the panels in the shop gives consistent seam spacing and plank quality that is hard to match working over the water.

Complex one-off details — tight radius margins, unusual hardware transitions — are still best fitted on the vessel, and we build the project accordingly: prefabricated fields, hand-fitted details.

Installation Planning and Reduced Disruption

Because the carpentry is largely done before the vessel becomes a worksite, the onboard phase is shorter and more predictable: substrate prep, panel installation, caulking, and finish sanding — with the surrounding vessel protected throughout.

This matters most when the vessel needs to return to service quickly or when work must fit inside a yard period. See how a full project fits together on our deck replacement page.

Our Process

Methodical, on-schedule, and built to superyacht tolerances.

01

Template

Deck geometry is templated on board, including margins, hatches, and hardware.

02

Fabricate

Panels are milled and pre-assembled in our workshop with consistent seams and layout.

03

Prep & Install

The substrate is prepped and panels are installed onboard in a planned sequence.

04

Caulk & Finish

Seams are caulked and cured, the deck is sanded level, and the surface is finished for handover.

Prefabricated Teak Deck Panels — Frequently Asked Questions

What is a prefabricated teak deck panel?

A completed deck section — planks, seams, and border detail — built in our workshop from templates taken on your vessel, then installed on board as a finished panel.

Is a prefabricated deck as accurate as building it entirely on board?

Yes — accuracy comes from the templates. Shop fabrication adds consistent seam spacing and plank quality because conditions are controlled. Final fitting and fairing are still completed on the vessel.

When is prefabrication not the right choice?

For areas dominated by complex, one-off curves or hardware transitions, live fitting on the vessel is often better. We recommend the right mix for each deck area rather than forcing one method.

Does prefabrication shorten the time my vessel is out of service?

Yes. Because most carpentry happens before the onboard phase, installation, caulking, and finishing take less time on the vessel than a fully on-board build.
