When to Replace Your Teak Deck

A teak deck reaches the end of its service life when planks become too thin from repeated sanding, when the substrate beneath has been compromised by water intrusion, or when seams and fasteners fail across the majority of the deck.

At that point, restoration is no longer cost-effective. A full refit restores the deck to original — or better — condition, with new material and modern fabrication techniques.

Fabrication & Installation

Every refit begins with precise templating of your deck. Planks are custom-milled from premium Burmese FEQ teak to your vessel's specifications — width, thickness, and grain orientation — then laid out with proper margins, king planks, and seam spacing.

Installation uses marine-grade adhesives and fasteners engineered for the flex and moisture of the marine environment.

A refit is also the right time to address seam design — our re-seaming and leading-edge recaulking keep the new deck watertight, while sanding finishes the surface to a flawless sheen.
