When to Replace a Yacht Teak Deck

Restoration or replacement? These are the signs a teak deck has reached the end of its service life and a full refit is the right call.

Signs It Is Time for Replacement

When planks become too thin from repeated sanding, when the substrate beneath has been compromised by water intrusion, or when seams and fasteners fail across the majority of the deck, restoration is no longer cost-effective.

The Refit Process

A full refit involves removing the old deck, inspecting and repairing the substrate, and fabricating and installing new premium Burmese teak engineered to superyacht tolerances.

Cost Considerations

While a refit is a significant investment, it restores the deck to original — or better — condition and can add decades of service life to your vessel.
